Metropolitan Archbishop Emeritus Norman S Dutton had established an Advisory Council to deal with such matters as Inter Church Communion and formal Concordats, with like Faith Groups and Denominations, and also to act as a Liturgical Commission for the Church.
In 2011 Archbishop John Langley became the Metropolitan and with the foreseen growth of the church, the Advisory Council was replaced by a Council of Bishops which included all Archbishops and Bishops within the church, so as to provide a manner in which all could be involved in the higher level decision making of the Church.
The expansion of the Church, begun by Archbishop John, has gathered pace under Archbishop Stuart and experience has demonstrated the worth of having the knowledge found in the Council of Bishops.
